Five Quick Tips for a Fun and Happy Bonfire Night

I’m not sure about you, but in our house bonfire night is a long awaited and exciting event.  We’re usually blessed with cold crisp evening air filled with the unforgettable smell of fireworks.  Here at Magical Story Jars HQ we have put together a few ideas to help make your bonfire night become one that remains filled with lots of family fun and helps to create memories to treasure.

·         Make it all about the food!  There’s so much yummy food to be eaten at this time of year so if you can, be sure to use food to help mark the occasion.  Chilli con carne, jacket potatoes, toffee apples, parkin and hot chocolate are treats that work well on bonfire night.

 ·         If you are using sparklers, then be sure to keep them at arm’s length and leave them in a bucket of water when they are finished.  A friend once told me to push the sparklers in the end of a carrot to help create even more space between the sparkler and your little one and to make it easier for them to hold.  We always do this, and I think it helps them to feel a little safer too.  It probably goes without saying, be sure to use bonfire night as a way to also remind your loved ones of the firework code.

 ·         Get cosy and use an adventure Magical Story Jar for some fantastic firework stories set at night. The stories you create will be cherished forever.  Be sure to fuel your story making with hot chocolate and toasted marshmallows.  Make your stories silly and have lots of fun.  Booger boy tells me that he would love to be included in yours!

 ·         Have fun with some bonfire themed craft activities.  Get out some black card, chalk and glitter and enjoy creating firework pictures.

 ·         Only buy fireworks from a reputable shop that complies with current safety standards.

Finally, amongst all the chaos be sure to remember to stop and enjoy it all. Kids grow up so quickly and there will soon be a day when you long for these days to be with you again. Have a fun filled evening with lots of memory making!
