A Fun and Free Christmas Rainbow Downloadable From Your Friends at Magical Story Jars
How are you feeling about keeping the kids occupied for an entire week whilst you finish all the Christmas preparations alongside work? If you’re looking for some free and fun stay at home activities to the keep the kids busy, then keep on reading.
This year we have all been making and displaying rainbows to make others smile and to help one another through what continues to be challenging times for so many people. Now is the perfect opportunity to keep the momentum going and let the kids have fun upgrading those regular rainbows to Christmas themed rainbows!
But how? We hear you ask! We have used the Christmas rainbow story card from the Christmas themed Magical Story Jar to inspire a simple activity that’s sure to get the whole family feeling festive! Click here for the activity sheet, print it out (we promise it won’t guzzle up all your printer ink) and use it to help your little one’s creativity flourish.
You can easily adapt the activity to your story makers age and likes, whilst tailoring it to the amount of time you have. We know it’s such a busy time of year and we believe that Christmas activities with your kids should be lighthearted and fun. Your mini story maker might want to simply design and draw a Christmas rainbow then make a short and sweet Christmas rainbow story verbally. Others might want to bring their Christmas rainbow to life in a hands-on way by turning it into a crafty creation and displaying it in their window or perhaps even sending it to a loved one they can’t visit yet. Some may put in a lot of time and care creating beautiful drawings of their Christmas rainbow and then go on to write a short story. Some may not be interested in drawing scene from their story but may instead want to focus on writing a detailed story all about their Christmas rainbow. Any lined paper will suffice, but if you happen to have one of our new story writing notebooks with story writing tips and wonderful words then now is the perfect opportunity to use it!
If your mini story maker chooses to write or tell a story about discovering their newly designed Christmas rainbow, then they might want to think about:
Which character will first discover the Christmas rainbow?
What will your Christmas rainbow smell of? We ran a similar activity out in the community last year and according to some of our mini story makers it could smell of anything from sticky toffee pudding, Santa’s pine fresh deodorant, candy canes, or a Christmas dinner!
Who will your main character meet along the way and more importantly, what will happen if and when they reach the end of the Christmas rainbow?
It really doesn’t matter how you do this activity. Just be sure to have fun!
Don’t forget to tag us in your mini story makers Christmas rainbow creations using the hashtag #MagicalStoryJars and we will be sure to be their virtual Christmas cheerleader.
Have fun story makers!
